AZELASTINE HYDROCHLORIDE SOFT CAPSULE

PURPOSE:To obtain a soft capsule, containing a solution of azelastine hydrochloride in polyethylene glycol as a content and excellent in preservation stability for a long period. CONSTITUTION:The objective soft capsule is prepared by dissolving azelastine hydrochloride [chemical name; (+ or -)-4-(4-chlorobenzyl)-2-(hexahydro-1-methyl-1H- azepin-4-yl)-1(2H)-phthalazine.hydrochloride]in polyethylene glycol which preferably has 200-600 molecular weight and is a liquid at ordinary temperature and enclosing the resultant solution in a soft capsule film. The polyethylene glycol is used in an amount of preferably >=50 pts.wt., especially 80-400 pts.wt. based on 1 pt.wt. azelastine hydrochloride.
