<p>PURPOSE:To smoothly expand an air bag while ensuring the safety of a child taking a standing posture by setting a hinge in such a manner that the expanding orbit of an air bag lid is situated in a vehicle body front from the rear most protruding part of an instrument panel, and providing a stepped part for avoiding the interference with the air bag on the lower opening edge of an opening part. CONSTITUTION:On the reverse side upper part of an air bag lid 11, a hinge member 16 protruding toward a vehicle body front, the front end part of which is opposed to the upper surface 10a of an air bag module 10, is integrally provided. The mounting position is set in such a manner that the expanding orbit Q of the air bag lid 11 is situated on the vehicle forward side from the rear most protruding part 1b of an instrument panel 1. Consequently, it is never interfered with a child taking a standing posture on an assistant driver's seat. The lower opening edge 8a of the opening part 8 of the instrument panel 1 is partly cut to form a stepped part 17 for avoiding the interference with the expanding area of the air bag. Therefore, the interference of the expanding air bag with the lower opening edge 8a of the opening part 8 is also avoided.</p> |
