PURPOSE:To reduce a feeling of busy shifts in using an automatic transmission in which judgement on shifts is corrected according to the amount of intake air by differing the weight of a correction factor for upshifting with that of a correction factor for downshifting when correcting judgement on shifts. CONSTITUTION:A speed change controller includes a speed change control means for judging shifts according to a predetermined shift condition and a shift parameter and a correction factor determination means for determining correction factors according to the required amount of intake air and the actual amount of intake air, the former being calculated according to engine speed and throttle opening. Judgement on shifts is corrected by a correction means in such a manner that as the actual amount of intake air becomes smaller compared with the required amount of intake air, downshifting is made easier and upshifting harder; in this case, a correction factor modification means is provided to differ the weight of a correction factor for upshifting with that of a correction factor for downshifting so that the width of hysteresis of upshifting and downshifting is increased in modified judgement on shifts. |
