PURPOSE: To provide a discharge muffler which reduces noise of a predetermined frequency range apparently without compromising compressor performances. CONSTITUTION: A discharge muffler 60 of a compressor 10 comprises a plurality of arrangements of apertures 100, each having a plurality of apertures 102 in a discharge tube 90 disposed concentrically in an attenuating chamber formed by a shell 64. The spacing between the centers of adjacent arrangements of apertures is determined to be substantially 1/8 of the wavelength of the sound frequency to be attenuated. The total sectional area of the apertures of each arrangement of apertures is determined to be less than 20% of the sectional area of the tube passage.
