PURPOSE: To provide a mechanism for clamping a cutting tool holder which can distribute or use common tools in a rotary machining center or a nonrotary turning center. CONSTITUTION: A rotary actuator 19 has a thread-grooved coupling part 27 provided thereto with a slidable draw bar 29 which is slidably guided by an annular guide member 31 fixed in a clamp unit housing 15 by means of a positioning pin 104. The guide member 31 includes an annular section 35 surrounding the drawbar 29. The guide member 31 defines at its end part a hexagonal inner guide surface having six guide surfaces 40 which are slidably engaged with six flat surfaces of the draw bar 29 so as to limit motion of the draw bar to a rectilinear axial motion along the center line of a socket. The rotary actuator 19 applies a force for operating the draw bar. |
