PURPOSE: To precisely control the temperature of inflow gas and the temperature of a catalyst bed enclosing a primary vessel including the catalyst bed with a heating means, directly heating the vessel, constituting the gas inlet/outlet system of the primary vessel of two coaxial pipes and preheating the inflow gas by the outflow gas. CONSTITUTION: A primary vessel 3 having a catalyst bed 1 is enclosed by a heating means 5 to directly heat the catalyst bed 1. The gas inlet/outlet system of the primary vessel 3 is composed of the two coaxial pipes. The reaction gas emerging from the primary vessel 3 is carried by an inner pipe 15 of these pipes and the contaminated gas is carried into the primary vessel 3 by an outer pipe 13. The gas inlet/outlet system is spirally formed, by which the primary vessel 3 is enclosed. The gas inlet/outlet system has a pipe 21 portion to carry the contaminated gas into the vessel 3 and a means 19 for heating the pipe portion. As a result, the contaminated gas is preheated before entering the primary vessel 3. Consequently, the temperature of the inflow gas and the temperature of the catalyst bed may be precisely controlled. |
