INSTRUMENT FOR MEASURING POSITION OF TUNNEL EXCAVATOR

PURPOSE:To measure the position of a tunnel excavator with respect to a planned tunnel driving line. CONSTITUTION:A direction measuring means 2 composed of a gyro compass and laser oscillator 3 which emits laser light toward the rear of a tunnel are incorporated in a tunnel excavator 1 and, on the other hand, a staff 4 is set in the tunnel. The lateral slipping of the excavator 1 is detected from the difference between the actual distance between the irradiating points of the laser light from the laser oscillator 3 on the staff before and after a fixed distance is driven and a calculated distance.
