PURPOSE:To obtain a vivid image without impairing radiation characteristics by adopting a three layer structure of a core, a clad and a support layer having specific refractive indexes, respectively. CONSTITUTION:In the objective radiation resistant image fiber, each picture element constituting an image fiber consists of a three layer structure of a core 1, clad 2 and a support layer 3. The core 1 consists of a high-purity quartz glass (which may contain a halogen such as Cl, Br or F, bus does not contain metal oxide). The clad 2 consists of a high-purity quartz glass containing F and having at least-1% difference in specific refractive indexes between the core 1. The support layer 3 consists of a halogen-doped high-purity quartz glass or pure quartz glass (which contains neither metal oxide, nor halogen, that is, entirely contain no dopant). |
