PURPOSE:To reduce an amount of a power consumed for drive of an overflow control valve by feeding fuel, discharged from a fuel injection valve through drive operation of a plunger by a cam rest for a high lift when the number of revolutions of a fuel pump is low, to a fuel injection valve. CONSTITUTION:A fuel pump 1 is provided with a plunger 2 driven by means of a cam 7, and fuel in a fuel pressure chamber 4 pressurized by the plunger 2 is discharged in a fuel delivery passage 15. The cam 7 is provided with a cam rest 11 for a low lift and a cam crest 12 for a high lift. When the number of revolutions of the fuel pump 1 is high, fuel discharged through rise operation of the plunger 2 by means of the cam rest 11 for a low lift is fed to a fuel injection valve. When the number of revolutions of the fuel pump 1 is low, fuel discharged through rise operation of the fuel pump 2 by means of the cam rest 12 for a high lift is fed to a fuel injection valve. This constitution reduces an amount of a power consumed for drive of an overflow control valve. |
