PURPOSE: To obtain paraffin compds. high in branching degree and high in octane value. CONSTITUTION: This catalyst for alkylation of paraffins consists of silica and an acidic phase in solid state contg. 5-100 wt.% sulfuric acid, and the silica is impregnated with the prescribed acidic phase. The specific surface area is 0.01-1,500 m<2> /g, the total pore volume is 0.005-1.5 cm<3> /g. The catalyst is used for the catalytic alkylation of isobutane and/or isopentane in the presence of at least one kinds of olefin having 3-6 carbonatoms per one molecule. |
