PURPOSE:To provide a method for effectively prolonging the lifetime of the catalyst in a facility for producing methyl vinyl ether by thermal decomposition of acetaldehyde dimethyl acetal. CONSTITUTION:In synthesizing methyl vinyl ether in the presence of an alkali catalyst by using a crude solution containing acetaldehyde dimethyl acetal as the main component as the raw material, the distillation column is operated so as to keep the amount of impurity acetaldehyde in the above-mentioned crude solution to 1wt.%. Thereby, the lifetime of the methyl vinyl ether production catalyst can be doubled. |
