PURPOSE:To increase initial capacity as a positive electrode material and improve the stability of charging and discharging cycles by pulverizing a positive electrode active material mainly composed of vanadium pentoxide after a dry rough grinding process to prevent the generation of a reaction material. CONSTITUTION:Cobalt oxide or the like is mixed with vanadium pentoxide. A mixture so obtained after melted at a temperature between 500 deg.C and 800 deg.C, or more preferably at a temperature between 560 deg.C and 740 deg.C, is dropped in water or otherwise, thereby obtaining a positive electrode material in amorphous state. Then, the positive electrode material so obtained is subjected a dry rough grinding process, and further pulverized to prevent the generation of a reaction product adversely influencing battery performance for use as a positive electrode material. A secondary lithium battery using the material has a separator 30 with fine holes to internally divide a positive electrode case 10 having an opening 10a sealed with a negative electrode cover plate 20. Also, a positive electrode 50 having a positive electrode current collector 40 positioned at the side of the case 10 is housed in space therefor. According to this construction, initial capacity is increased, and a positive electrode material having the high stability of charging and discharging cycles can be provided. |
