Jointing small electric conductors - by electrolytic deposition of metals

Strong, reliable joints are formed by immersing electric conductors in an aq. electrolytic soln. contg. metal ions capable of forming strongly adhering, electroconductive coatings on the electric conductors; placing the surfaces to be jointed as close as possible; making both conductors cathodes and passing d.c. until the narrow gap between the two conductors is completely filled with the deposited metal. The method is esp. suitable for jointing printed circuits, or other electric systems, at room temp., or an only slightly elevated temp.
