PURPOSE:To provide this method and device which are applied to the visual sensor parts of an unmanned carrier, the shape inspection device of each product, etc., and can extract the image boundaries out of the image information on the subjects with high accuracy regardless of the measuring environments. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with a TV camera 1, an A/D converter 2, a smoothing processing part 3, the differention processing parts 4, the boundary image production parts 5, and an integrating circuit 6. In such constitution, four types of differention images are produced, that is, the vertical, horizontal, slanting right rising, and slanting right falling images. Then the picture element showing the peak differention value of each differention image in the differention direction is extracted and a boundary pixel is decided by the differention value of the extracted picture element. Then a boundary image is obtained. In such a manner, the image boundaries can be extracted with high accuracy regardless of the measuring environments. |
