PURPOSE:To provide a fuel cell system capable of effectively utilizing a high- temperature heat energy generated in the system. CONSTITUTION:A temperature difference battery 4 based on the utilization of hydrogen contained in a fuel is provided so as to cause a high-temperature electrode 14 of this temperature difference battery 4 to be heated by a high- temperature exhaust gas from a combustion chamber 6. The fuel containing hydrogen is supplied to a low-temperature electrode 11 side of the temperature difference battery 4, and then part of the hydrogen is moved, through electrode reaction, through the battery 4 into a high-temperature electrode 12. The remaining fuel is allowed to pass, from the low-temperature electrode 11 side, through an external piping, to the high-temperature electrode 12 side where the fuel is heated, by a high-temperature exhaust gas from a combustion chamber 6, up to an operation temperature for a fuel cell 1. The fuel discharged from the high-temperature electrode 12 is supplied to an anode electrode 1a of the fuel cell 1. |
