PURPOSE:To enable a user to easily retrieve maps up to a destination by superposing an arrow which indicates the direction from a display map to the destination on the periphery of a map screen. CONSTITUTION:This method is equipped with a central arithmetic processing part 1 which controls the whole operation of the electronic map device, an image display device 2 which displays the map on the screen, a CD-ROM 3 storing map data, a keyboard 4 for inputting process instructions to the central arithmetic processing part 1, and a position measuring instrument 5 which measures a current position on the map data of an area selected on the keyboard 4, and the map data of the area selected on the keyboard 4 are read out of the CD-ROM 3 and displayed on the screen of the image display device 2. When the destination is included, the destination is displayed with a bright dot, etc., but when not, the central arithmetic processing part 1 controls the image display device 2 so as to indicates the direction of the destination with the arrow. |
