发明名称 VERFAHREN ZUR ABSCHEIDUNG VON EISEN (II)-CHLORID AUS CHLORIERUNGSGASEN VON DER CHLORIERUNG EISEN- UND TITANHALTIGER MINERALIEN
摘要
Ferrous chloride is separated from gaseous reaction mixtures resulting from the chlorination of ferro-titaniferous ores or slags in the presence of a reducing agent, by cooling the reaction mixture to 500-550 DEG C., e.g. 530-540 DEG C. ferric chloride and separating the dry crystals thereby formed. Coating may be by liquids or vapours e.g. with an inert liquid which evaporates upon mixing with the gas. Exemplified are liquid metal chlorides e.g. titanium tetrachloride and also silicon tetrachloride and carbon tetrachloride. The coolant may be recycled. The solid ferrous chloride may be removed by a cyclone maintained at 500-550 DEG C. before cooling the gases further to at least 250-270 DEG C. to remove ferric chloride and then cooling to remove e.g. titanium tetrachloride. Alternatively the ferrous chloride may be blown over with the gases and collected with the ferric chloride. The materials treated may be obtained by chlorination of ilmenite, rutile, beneficiated ilmenite and titanium dioxide-bearing slags. The ferrous chloride may similarly be separated from chlorides of tin and silica.
