PURPOSE:To carry out, with the temperature distribution being kept uniform, the defatting treatment of removing an organic substance contained in an electrolyte plate. CONSTITUTION:After a fuel battery is assembled using a tape formed electrolyte plate 1, one, or a mixture, of an inert gas N2 and a carbon dioxide gas CO2 is caused to flow into a cathode electrode 2 prior to commencement of the operation. Simultaneously, part of an outlet gas of the cathode electrode 2 is increased in temperature while it is being re-cycled via a re-cycle line 8 to an inlet side of the cathode electrode 2, and is defatted through thermal decomposition. Next, an air A is supplied on a bit-by-bit basis to the cathode inlet, by which defatting is changed over to defatting by oxidation. When, in this state, defatting is conducted and if no temperature rise occurs during this defatting operation, then the air A is re-cycled via the re-cycle line 8 and the temperature rise is caused, thereby doing defatting operation. |
