<p>PURPOSE:To provide a management method for completing rewinding of individual magnetic tapes until their ends in a fixed period in a magnetic tape library device utilizing a housing storage housing a large number of cartridge type magnetic tapes. CONSTITUTION:With regard to using information of the cartridge type magnetic tapes, the latest used date is stored in a storage means 15, and a magnetic tape which has not been used for a fixed period is retrieved from the storage means 15. The retrieved magnetic tape is loaded into the vacant side of either of magnetic tape devices 12 and 13 by a carrier means 14 from the housing storage 16 and is rewound until its last end, and then the tape is housed in the housing storage 16 or the using information of this tape is stored as the latest used date among the individual magnetic tapes performed in their rewinding until the last ends. Then, the retrieval is limited to a magnetic tape which has not been rewound until its last end for a fixed period.</p> |
