PURPOSE:To display gradations of clouds and rain and the like with high precision by making a gradational display with the density of the ON/OFF state of the binary display element. CONSTITUTION:A display screen consists of picture elements composed of plural binary display elements arranged in matrix, each of the picture elements has information with four gradations, and 4X4-dot display units consist of 16 picture elements in total longitudinally and laterally. Then, a 1st state (1) wherein all the binary display elements are OFF, a 2nd state (2) wherein the scattered binary display elements which are a quarter as many as all the picture elements are ON, a 3rd state (3) wherein the scattered binary display elements which are a half as many as all the picture elements are ON, and a 4th state (4) wherein all the binary picture display elements are OFF and the mixing (5) of these four states are provided. Thus, the binary display elements of the picture elements are brought under ON/OFF control corresponding to one of the four gradation values represented with bits that the picture elements have and the positions of the picture element in its display unit. |
