PURPOSE:To provide the optical recording and reproducing device of a multi- beam system reducing the light quantity loss of a laser beam having a light emitting point out of an optical axis. CONSTITUTION:After plural laser beams 2 outgoing from a semiconductor laser array 1 are converted to parallel beams by a collimate lens 4, the diameter of the laser beam of the direction to which light emitting points align is enlarged larger than the beam diameter ratio of the horizontal direction and the vertical direction of the laser beam. Then, immediately before the beam is incident on an objective lens 6, the beam diameter of above-mentioned directions is compressed and a first beam shaping means 20 and a second beam shaping means 21 are provided so as to shape respective beams so that the beam diameters of the horizontal direction and the vertical direction of respective laser beams become roughly equal immediately before the incidence to the objective lens. |
