PURPOSE:To obtain a stainless thread incorporated with needle which has no thermal effect on a needle portion by forming a needle portion of a designated shape on the end portion of an austenitic stainless steel wire having a fibrous structure, and forming the wire connected to the needle portion as a thread portion of general structure which has been heated above a recrystallization temperature to be softened through application of electric current. CONSTITUTION:An austenitic stainless steel wire, the structure of which elongated like a fiber, is used as material for a needle. A needle A comprises a needle portion 1 formed by cutting a wire formed to have a designated diameter by cold wire drawing to a length equal to an intended needle, and machining the end portion of the above and a thread portion 2 formed on a portion connected to the needle portion 1. The needle portion 1 is formed in such a manner as to keep the hardness obtained by hardening by cold wire drawing and strength. The flexibility needed as a stitching thread is given to the thread portion 2. Contractors 3a, 3b are brought into contact with both ends 2a, 2b of the thread portion 2, and an electric current is applied to the thread portion 2 to raise the temperature of the thread portion 2 above a recrystallization temperature of an austenitic structure, so that the fibrous structure is recrystallized into an austenitic structure to give flexibility. |
