NEW MATERIAL:A milbemycin compound expressed by formula I (=Y is =O or -OH; X is methyl group when Y is =O and methyl group or hydroxymethyl group when Y is -OH). USE:Useful as an acaricide or anthelmintic for animals and humans, capable of exhibiting improved acaricidal activity against imagoes and eggs of two- spotted spider mite, citrus red mite, etc., parasitic on fruit trees, vegetables and petals or mites of the family Ixodidae, spiders of the family Dermanyssinae, etc., parasitic on animals and further activity against sanitary insect pests, e.g. flies of the family Oestridae, etc., fleas, lice, etc., or root-knot numatodes, etc., in soil. PREPARATION:A strain of Streptomyces B-41-146 is cultivated in a suitable culture medium and the product is collected from the culture to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I. A submerged culture method is particularly suitable for the culture method. The cultivation is carried out under aerobic condition at 22-30 deg.C, particularly preferably about 28 deg.C. |
