<p>The present invention relates to a method for removing bituminous materials from tubes or pipes being coated on the outer surface and/or the inner surface with a layer of bitumen, and to an apparatus for carrying out said method. The tubes or pipes are submerged in vertical or substantially vertical position in a bath of bitumen (2) which has been heated to a temperature in the range of from 100 °C to 250 °C and are slowly removed from said bath (2) in the same or substantially the same position after 5 to 15 minutes. The apparatus consists of a container (1) which is filled with bitumen, can be heated to a temperature between 100 °C and 250 °C and has such a form and such dimensions that at said temperature said pipe can be positioned therein vertically or substantially vertically. Further, means (6) are provided to heat the contents of the container (1) to said temperature and to maintain said temperature, means (18) are provided to bring said pipe into the container (1) at said temperature and to remove the pipe from the container (1) after 5 to 15 minutes, and means (11) are provided to remove superfluous bitumen from the container (1).</p> |
