The windscreen wiper has a rubber blade (10) whose cross-section has a rectangular middle part with a T-shaped projection on one side and a wedge shaped element connected to the rectangular part by a narrow neck on the other side. The wedge shaped element has curved sides to which bristles (11) are attached. As the wiper moves over the windscreen the glass surface is first cleaned by the bristles on the forward side of the wiper blade. The glass surface is then dried by the wiper lip.
