An attachment for a pipe consists of a short trough and a mating switch housing which snap together to surround the pipe. Both components are made from electrically insulating material. The trough has at least one radially projecting peg which fits into an opening in the pipe for locating purposes. The snap-fitting rims of the switch housing are integral with the end wall of the housing. At the top and bottom ends of the trough, flexible tongues project crosswise to the snap-fitting edge to locate the housing correctly in the longitudinal direction. The trough and switch housing are detached by using an annular unlocking tool. ADVANTAGE - Insulated switch housing can be attached easily and detached without damage.
