Directional control valve, especially a 4-way valve, having a housing (11) with a first bore (longitudinal bore) with a first diameter (d) and connection channels (15,16,17,18) between the bore and connections for a pump, tank and other outlets. A control piston moves to-and-fro within the bore and connections are created by means of pairs of control edges on the piston and in the housing. A second bore in the housing for the creation of housing control edges has a diameter (D) greater than the diameter (d) and intersects the first bore. USE/ADVANTAGE - Valve having control edges which can be produced with high precision and at relatively low cost.
