A low cost optical viewing device for viewing a remote location comprises three sections of an objective lens (12), relay lens (14), and eye piece (16). The sections are free of conventional and relatively expensive glass rods which lower overall costs of disposable optical viewing devices such as borescopes and endoscopes. Molded plastic lenses are used for imaging. Plastic optical fibers are used for illuminating the field of view and are twisted to increase the field of illumination. The amount of twist of the illuminating optical fibers may be tailored to match the size of the desired field of view. |
