<p>According to the invention, the workpiece (1) is fixed onto a headstock spindle rotated by driving means about a spindle axis (I-I). A turning tool (3) is mounted onto a tool-carriage which is movable in translation according to a transverse travel axis (III) and a longitudinal turning axis (IV). The turning tool (3) includes a cutting edge (4) consisting of a plurality of cutting edge parts, each capable of meshing on the workpiece (1). The tool turnin (3) is rotated according to an axis (II), which is non parallel to the spindle axis (II), in order to successively bring into contact with the workpiece (1), the distinct cutting edge parts (4) of the turning tool (3).
