The appts. has a vapour line (3) from coolant spaces in a cylinder head (2) of an IC engine (1) leading to a condenser (4) from which condensate is returned by a pump (6) through a liq. coolant pipe (5). The condenser is air-cooled by a fan (7) whose motor (8) is switched on by a level sensor (12) in an expansion tank (11) connected (10) to the condensate outlet when liquid level falls below a min. level. The fan is stopped when the liq. level in the condenser has been restored by the supplementary cooling. ADVANTAGE - Capacity of condenser is utilised to full, irrespective of external influences such as air temp. and pressure.
