Pharmacologically active peptides of formulae (Ia)-(Ig) and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts are new. H-Tyz-Pro-Trp-Thr-T (Ia); H-Tyr-Pro-Trp-Thr-A-T (Ib); H-Tyr-Pro-Trp-Thr-A-B-T (Ic); H-Tyr-Pro-Trp- Thr-A-B-C-T (Id); H-Tyr-Pro-Trp -Thr-A-B-C-D-T (Ie); H-Tyr-Pro-Trp -Thr-A-B-C-D-E-T (If); H-Tyr-Pro-Trp -Thr-A-B-C-D-E-F-T (Ig), where A, B, C, D, E, F are any aminoacid in D- or L-form; T is OH, OR, NH2, NHR, N(R)2 or NHNHR'; R is substd. 1-10C alkyl, adamantyl, 1-10C cycloalkyl or 6-8C aralkyl (e.g. phenyl, benzyl or phenethyl) and R' is H, 1-10C alkyl, cycloalkyl, 6-8C aralkyl, linear, branched or cyclic aliphatic 1-16C acyl, aromatic acyl opt. substd. by OH, NH2, 1-14C alkoxy or halogen or a linear, branched or cyclic 3-11C aliphatic urethane residue opt. substd. by OH, NH2, halogen or 1-4C alkoxy. In partic., 16 peptides (I) are specifically claimed, including Val-Tyr-Pro-Trp-Thr; Tyr-Pro-Trp-Thr-Gln-Phe-Phe-Glu-Asp, and Tyr-D-Ala-Trp-D-Thr-Phe-OH.
