The side cutters (6, 6') in holders (7, 7') are spaced apart on a cutter carrier shaft (5) which is driven to and fro in linear guideways (11, 11') by a crankshaft and connecting rods (2, 3, 4). At the ends of the cutter carrier shaft are linear roller bearing units (10, 10') which, in conjunction with the guideways (11, 11') fixed to the machine frame, form a linear roller bearing guideway system. The linear roller bearing units can be adjusted to eliminate play and preload the guideway system. USE/ADVANTAGE - Reduced machine wear and greater system stiffness.
