The tool (100) has two opposed jaws (112) on pivots (116) equidistant about the centreline. In the working ends (118) of the jaws two dies (46) at right angles to each other can slide along the inner, supporting surface of the jaws. Opposite the dies (46) in the ends of the jaws are two further dies (46) similarly supported in a central slider (130) which can move to and fro along the centreline of the tool under the action of ram mounted rollers (142). The jaws are opened to allow entry over the ferrule and pipe and then closed. Inward movement of the rollers (142) locks the jaws and brings the slider (130) forward.
