A silencer to be connected at the intake side of a blower, especially a secondary air blower for internal-combustion engines having a controlled three-way catalyst, has a casing (20) with an air inlet and outlet port (21, 22). In order to economise on overall volume, the casing (20) is completely filled by a filter insert (23) made of sound-insulating material, so that the silencer at the same time serves as an air filter, and a separate air filter can be dispensed with. <IMAGE>
