PURPOSE:To provide a damping characteristics control device which can control damping characteristics of an input from ground surface properly from initial stage of damping force rise and can increase steering stability and riding comfortableness of a vehicle by preventing control delay. CONSTITUTION:An inclination of damping force near the 0-cross point of the damping force is calculated based on damping force values detected by a damping characteristics alteration means c, which is operated by the drive of an actuator (a) and can alter the damping characteristics of a shock absorber (b) in multiple steps, a damping force detecting means (d) for detecting the damping force from the shock absorber (b), and a damping force detecting means (d) Also a damping characteristics control means (e) for outputting a switchover signal to a damping characteristics alteration means (c) so that the damping characteristics of the shock absorber (b) is controlled soft when the inclination is over a specified limit and hard when it is less than the limit is provided. |
