PURPOSE:To obtain a translucent high purity boron nitride sintered body having excellent mechanical property in high temp. under a lower pressure than that of a conventional method by treating a h-BN sintered body, in which a specific amount of an acidic aq. solution is added as a catalyst and is enclosed in a metal capsule, at a high temp. and pressure. CONSTITUTION:The cubic boron nitride sintered body is produced by following 4 processes. That is; (1) a process to enclose the boron nitride shaped body into the capsule, (2) a process to add 0.05-2.0% acidic aq. solution or a basic aq. solution into the shaped body, (3) a process to provide the capsule in extra- high pressure and high temp. apparatus, (4) a process to treat the capsule at >=1500 deg.C under >=5GPa. The physical property of the sintered body is; (1) the cubic boron nitride having >99.5% boron nitride, which contains >=90% cubic boron nitride, (2) and balance inevitable impurities, (3) <=0.25 half breadth of x-ray diffraction curve at 2theta on (220) plane of the cubic boron nitride by CuKalpha ray, (4) translucent. |
