<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a new secosterol compound useful as a hypolipidemic medicine of serum capable of reducing cholesterol and neutral fat in serum. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I (R is Het, Het-CO, Het-B-CO, Ar-CO or Ar-B-COr Het is nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group which may contain substituent group; Ar is aromatic group which may contain substituent group; B is carbon chain or carbon chain through a hetero atom; A is hydrocarbon group) such as alpha-nicotinoyloxy-5,6-secocholestan-5 alpha, 6-diol. The compound is obtained by oxidizing double bond at the 5 and the 6-position of a cholesterol of formula II and reducing the reactional product with NaBH4, etc.</p> |
