PURPOSE:To improve the turning performance of a vehicle without hindering the travelling safety of a vehicle in the case where front wheels are steered slowly or a vehicle turns by steady turning. CONSTITUTION:A micro computer 34 performs the low pass filter computing to a detected front wheel steering angle thetaf from a front wheel steering angle sensor 31 with the program processing to extract the low area component thetafLP of the front wheel steering angle thetaf, and subtracts the low area component thetafLP from the detected front wheel steering angle if to compute the front wheel steering angle thetaf* (=thetaf-thetafLP), from which the low area component thetafLP is eliminated. The micro computer 34 controls the steering of rear wheels at an objective rear wheel steering angle thetar* (=K.thetaf*) in proportion to the front wheel steering angle thetaf*. In the case where the front wheels are steered quickly, the rear wheels are steered large in the same phase with the front wheels to keep the travelling safety of a vehicle favorably. In the case where the front wheels are steered slowly or a vehicle turns by steady turning, since the rear wheels are steered small or not steered, the turning performance of the vehicle is improved. |
