<p>PURPOSE:To circulate bromine without letting it escape outside the system and deodorize odors by a method wherein Br<-> in a washing liquid for gas to be treated is oxidized to BrO<-> or Br2 with ozone, and Br<-> in a washing waste liquid is oxidized to Br2 or Br2O with ozone. CONSTITUTION:Gas to be treated is washed by a washing liquid, which contains hypobromite ions and whose pH is adjusted to 10.5 or more, the pH of a waste liquid of the washing liquid is adjusted to 10.5 or less, and ozone is gas-liquid contacted while gas escaping from the liquid is gas-liquid contacted with the said washing liquid, whose pH is adjusted to 10.5 or more. For example, odorous components in the gas to be treated 1 are exhausted outside the system as treated gas 12 which oxidized to odorless other substance by BrO<-> in the washing liquid 3. The pH of the washing liquid 3 is adjusted to 10.5 or more by adding alkali, and the ozone 16 is aerated by means of an aeration pipe 11. The escaping gas 23 is introduced to a washing tower 2, and the washing waste liquid, Br being contained therein is approximately removed, is discharged outside the system as overflowing water 13.</p> |
