PURPOSE:To secure communication by monitoring a voice signal for a prescribed time together with a control procedure signal and a busy signal and extending the monitor time at the point of time when the voice signal is detected so as to await a reply properly with respect to a different reply time. CONSTITUTION:A parameter such as ON/OFF of a BT signal or the like is registered in a RAM 3 via an operation section 2, a significant signal is monitored and a facsimile procedure signal is detected, then the communication processing mode is set. Furthermore, a voice detection section 8 monitors the voice signal together with the control procedure signal and the busy signal to detect the voice signal. When the voice signal is detected, it is discriminated that the opposite party is a voice of a party of telephone reception or a reply message of an automatic answering telephone set to extend the monitor time. Then, the voice signal is monitored for a prescribed time and the time is extended by the voice signal and the communication is awaited by taking a start time of a facsimile start device and a changeover discrimination time after reply message transmission into account. Then, sure facsimile communication is ensured to the facsimile equipment connecting to the automatic answering telephone set.
