PURPOSE:To prevent the display brightness of the liquid crystal display device from decreasing when the quantity of extraneous light is small and the countermeasure for reflection is unnecessitate. CONSTITUTION:A circular polarizing plate (reflectance reducing protection plate) 10 constituted by integrating a linear polarizing plate and a 1/4 phase difference plate in parallel and can be mounted on and demounted from the image display screen of the liquid crystal display device 20 while turned over (by sliding in a figure). When the quantity of the extraneous light is small and measures for reflection are not required, the 1/4 phase difference plate side is set on the side of a natural light source, but when the extraneous light is large in quantity, the linear polarizing plate side is set on the side of the natural light source. |
