<p>PURPOSE: To reduce same channel interference and ghost by dividing an HTDV signal into a plurality of classes and encoding the signal with different error protection, depending on importance of information. CONSTITUTION: An HTDV signal of a video signal source 101 is given to a source encoder 105, where the signal is divided into information of a plurality of classes and they are given to channel encoders 121-132. Then at least information of one class is given to the encoder 128 as more important information and error protection more which is powerful than that of the other class information is applied to the information. Each class information is given to base-band modulators 161-172 of channels assigned to the information, in which the information is modulated into sub-channels. Then modulator outputs are summed by an adder 175, where frequency division multiple processing is converted and the result is sent from a single side-band modulator 195. Thus, same channel interference and ghost are reduced.</p> |
