PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of a sputter and to carry out optical recording without considerably lowering sensitivity in the case of an additional recording type optical recording medium by which optical recording is carried out by pitting the recording layer with laser light. CONSTITUTION:This optical recording medium consists of a substrate 1, a recording layer 2 in which optical recording is carried out on the substrate 1 and a metal or metalloid layer having <=0.2cal/cm/cm<2>/sec/ deg.C heat conductivity as a protective layer 3 on the recording layer 2. The real number part of the double refractive index of the metal or metalloid layer at recording wavelength is within the range of 1-4 and the imaginary number part is within the range of 0.3-4. |
