摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain the liquid crystal electro-optic element which is improved in contrast by matching the absorption wavelength of dichromatic dyes and the transmission wavelength of color filters. CONSTITUTION:Transparent electrodes ITO 12 and transparent electrodes ITO 15 are formed on a substrate 11 and a substrate 16 and a mixture composed of a liquid crystal 13, particulates 14 and the dichromatic dyes 18 is inserted between these substrates. The dichromatic dyes 18 are preferably the dichromatic dyes which most absorb the light of the wavelength nearly equal to the peak wavelength of the incident light on the liquid crystal optical element. The color filters 19 which mostly allow the transmission of the light of the wavelength nearly equal to the peak wavelength of the absorbed light of the light emitted from the liquid crystal optical element are preferably provided. The incident light and the colors of the color filters 19 have preferably a complementary color relation. The exit light and the colors of the color filters 19 have preferably the complementary color relation. As a result, the bright display having the high contrast is possible and means for full coloration is obtd.
