PURPOSE: To enable hydrogen gas to pass freely between each cell module and an external pressure container by preventing leakage of an electrolyte between the cell modules. CONSTITUTION: A metal oxide hydrogen battery has sealed cell modules 2 each storing an electrolyte and aerate hydrogen. The battery includes an external pressure container containing the plurality of cell modules 2 each having positive 4 and negative 6 terminals and containing an electrolyte such as potassium hydroxide. Each cell module 2 is surrounded by flexible sealed bags 17, 18 which are impervious to the flow of the electrolyte, The bag is preferably a multilayered structure constructed of thermoplastic films. Each bag is provided with vents 22, 23 pervious to the flow of hydrogen gas but impervious to the flow of the electrolyte, An electric lead is connected to the terminal of each cell module 2 and extends in a sealed relationship through the bags. |
