PURPOSE:To store only a part of a musical sound waveform by utilizing the symmetry of the waveform when the musical sound waveform is stored in a waveform memory, and to control a read and compose the waveform when the waveform is generated. CONSTITUTION:The waveform read device 50 consists of the waveform storage memory 20 storing sampled values of the waveform and an address controller 10 which controls the read addresses of the sampled value from the waveform storage memory 20. The waveform memory 20 outputs the (i) th sampled value u (i) for the output (i) of the address controller 10. The output of the waveform read device 50 is inverted by a sign inversion device 30 according to the output of a selector 40.
