The window (4) in a car door is operated by a mechanism (17) located at the base of the car door (1). The glass (4) being led by guides with sealing strips up into and down from the frame (3). The window is operated by a power drive (19), a lifting mechanism (18) and a connection (15) to the glass window. The lifting mechanism (18) is at least partly accommodated within the window frame member (9), thus the overall space requirements of the window operating mechanism in the space between the door panels (2) is reduced. USE/ADVANTAGE - Window system in car door releases space in the area between the inner and outer panels for other uses, such as storage pockets.
