The suspension element is fitted with a tubular elastomer membrane (14) open at both ends and coupled to the two ends of the suspension. The bottom part of the tube rolls over the bottom element (1) of the suspension and forms a trap for moisture. Sensors (9) inside the trapped air space indicate if the moisture level exceeds a set limit. The moisture trap can be a ring-shaped duct around the lower suspension element or it is formed by the rolling elastomer tube. A simple sensor has a resistance element which varies with exposure to moisture. ADVANTAGE - Early indication of excess moisture in pneumatic suspension i.e. shock absorber.
