This drive assembly (1) comprises an internal combustion engine (2) and a waste heat turbine unit (3) in which the energies contained in the exhaust gas are utilised. The waste heat turbine unit (3) is provided with a rotating cylinder (15) designed as a hollow body, which is acted upon on the outside (23) by the exhaust gases of the internal combustion engine (2). Vaporisable liquid medium, which in a steam turbine (18) expands, delivering power, can be fed to the inside (22) of the cylinder by means of a device (21). The power obtained is fed to the crankshaft (11) of the internal combustion engine (2) by means of a transmission (14).
