The core is pref. of corrosion-free hardened steel and is divided in a middle plane running through the centre line of the cross holes (35-39) which accommodate the closure pins (30-34). Both parts (44) of the core are joined together by welding, hard soldering, or similar. To make it difficult to open the lock, in addition to the closure pins balls (55-57) are provided in corresp. cross holes (52-54), so that by means of the key both the balls and the closure pins are brought into the correct position for opening.
